The name is derived from the C-shaped arm used to connect the X-ray source and X-ray detector to one another. C-Arm comprises a generator called as X-Ray source and an image intensifier of flat panel detector. It is often used in surgery, orthopedics, traumatology, vascular surgery and cardiology for intra-operative imaging. The device provides high-resolution X-ray images in real time, allowing the surgeon to monitor progress at any point during the surgery.
